Blackburn Big Switch Ratchet Multi Tool

All bikepacking setups need a multi tool. There are many options out there, but this Blackburn Big Switch Ratchet Multi Tool is rather cool.

It is your race mechanic on the go! It is a scaled down from a full-size ratchet, however it does not limit its performance. Including, a extra-long 2.5 through 8mm Allen bits take care of business, along with T25 and T30 Torx, the renowned Wayside chain-breaker, 0, 1, and 2 spoke wrenches, a disc-pad spreader, flathead, and a Presta valve core tool.

It is made with a well thought out modular design, very compact that it fits in the palm of your hand. The tool also includes a T or L handle wrenches to help give you more leverage on bolts.

Quad Lock

Phone mounts are a great little addition to any bikepacking setup. I have purchased cheaper clamp style mounts in the past and they have just broken, not worth it!

However this Quad Lock phone mount if the perfect companion for your next bikepacking adventure! There are many of different product variations, the most common is the lock that wraps around your stem, which requires an addition lock that is fixed onto your phone case or your can get a specific phone case suited to your device.

As a mounting system it is definitely top notch. Your phone will not move or vibrate at all. They are even designed for mounting on motorcycles, which shows how well they preform.

OneUp Components EDC Tool System

Having the ability to pump your tires is always handy to get you out of trouble when you get toughs nasty punctures. But this is not just any tool, it is many tools in one.

It is designed with a compact style allowing you to store it away in your fork’s steer tube. Allowing you to bring everything required for all your bikepacking repairs without lugging around a bulky pack with multiple tools inside. The EDC Tool System is comprised of three separate parts. You’ll find a compact multi-tool, chain breaker that doubles as a tire lever, and a bottom storage container that threads onto the bottom of the entire unit. The bottom storage container can be swapped out for a 12, 16, or 20-ounce canister of CO2 for inflating tires.

Also the EDC Tool System is compatible with OneUp Component’s EDC Pump with bottle cage mount.

CARRADICE CAMPER LONGFLAP

The saddle bag designed like the Carradice Longflap are getting more and more popular. But they are a cool solution to storage restrictions bikepacking sometimes results in. With a huge 23 litre capacity means you can go for a multi-night tour with ease.

For all options on attaching the saddlebag, see the Saddlebag Fixing Systems.  To carry the saddlebag off the bike, a Shoulder Strap is available.

It seems like a great alternative to the standard bikepacking saddle packs.

Wahoo Fitness ELEMNT ROAM GPS Bike Computer

When bikepacking it is improtant to get a great quality bike computer for all that off the beaten track exploring. It is the last thing you want to do is rely on your phones battery and have it die. The Wahoo Roam combines smart navigation with a high-contrast color display and long-lasting battery.

7mesh Freeflow Insulated Bike Jacket – Men’s

Getting clothing that is better designed and built for bikepacking in mind is a good idea. Some clothes offer unique little qualities, then a standard flannel shirt. There are so many option that I would like to write a complete article all about bikepacking apparel and clothing.

However, this 7mesh Freeflow jacket is suited as a outer layer on cool days or as a highly breathable insulation layer under a shell when conditions get tougher.

Insulated with Polartec Alpha technology. The jersey helps eliminate sweat with a moisture-wicking double-weave fabric. A gripper elastic hem also helps stop the jersey from moving up the body. Soft brushed collar and chin guard.

I like how the style is more casual then road racing spandex. I prefer this casual look when bikepacking.

Revelate Designs Mag-Tank 2000 Top-Tube Bag

Top Tube bags can come in handy for storing quick access items like snack for on the go exploring. This Revelate Designs Mag-Tank 2000 offers a zipper-free opening. Allowing even quicker access to the things you need.

Made in the USA, it comes with some great features, including;

  • Tapered wedge shape offers 50% greater capacity than the standard Mag-Tank, yet retains a lean profile at its base; tapers from 4.5 in. wide at the stem down to 1.5 in.
  • Contoured top flap is held in place by a magnetic buckle with mechanical engagement—no zippers—for quick access to snacks, keys and other supplies
  • Easily opens one-handed while riding by pulling outward on the cord loop
  • Cover material is designed to shed rain and spray, but due to the large panel opening, it is not a sealed or waterproof bag
  • Flap-style opening means small objects can come out of the bag from rough trails or laying the bike on its side; keep loose items like keys or gummy bears in ziplock bags
  • Grippy top-tube strap has a double-back wrap for excellent stability
  • Adjustable-height daisy chain with cam-locking front strap attachment has a spacer block to clear stem clamp bolts

Five Ten Freerider Bikepacking Shoes

Finding a nice pair of bikepacking shoes for your adventures is important, you want something that is going to be ideal for hike a bike sections aswell as holding up to comfort while riding day in day out.

The Five Teen Freeriders are one of many bikepacking shoes that are a good option. They are really nice looking shoes, they kind of remind me of old school skating shoes. The shoe is made with a heavy canvas, especially around the side of the ankle area, providing great protection. Also has double stitching all over the shoe. The sole is attached with thick stitching to the main body of the shoe. All in all resulting in a very durable shoe.

The sole of the shoes is very rigid and solid, the heel of the shoe is very stiff and hard, but the shoe still has some flexibility enabling some movement to make it comfortable when walking.

Ergon ST Core Prime Saddle

Ergon saddles are a comfortable alternative saddle option to the famous Brooks B17 Saddle. They ensure gender-specific comfort for long-distance touring. That means each saddle is suited to men or womens physical needs. The ST Core Prime Saddles in Mens and Womens are comfortable options for a bikepacking adventure, especially those long distance ones.

The men’s Ergon ST Core Prime saddle supports natural pelvic movement while you pedal. It also damps bumps and helps relieve your sit bones. While the women’s Ergon ST Core Ultra bike saddle ensures maximum comfort over long distances.

Osprey Daylite Waistpack

Hip Packs are more trendy in bikepacking and they also offer some great uses. Gone are the days using them as a tourist. They are a great idea for storing your camera on body, so you can get it out quickly when you want to capture that moment. Or storing your passport on you.

They are super handy! There are a number of handmade options specifically for bikepacking but you will not go wrong with something like this Osprey pack from REI.
