Bikepacking Setups : Codey’s Kona Sutra LTD 2020

Hey everyone my name is Codey and I am actually the owner of this blog you are reading. I started this blog back in mid 2019 out of a ever growing passion for bikepacking and exploring by bike. I wanted to share what I have learnt over the past 5 years of adventure cycling. Hopefully to help those get started and make the jump into this wonderful world of camping, biking and community. But also so I can continue to learn more and more about this industry. Because it really interests me and I just love writing and talking about bikepacking all day long. Also a gear junkie!

But anyway you are here because of my Kona Sutra bikepacking rig. Well this will be the first instalment of the ‘Bikepacking Setups’ portion of the blog. I plan to feature bikepacking setups from all over the world with some of the most interesting people. Hopefully it can be some kind of inspiration if you are looking to buy gear for your next bikepacking rig. I know when I was researching for a Kona Sutra LTD. I was looking online for bikepacking setups for that particular bike to see what could be done and get some ideas. Because it is like art, it is a creative process getting all the bags and gear and putting together your very own bikepacking setup. And from my experience it is just fun to see other rigs.

If you want to read my early review of the Kona Sutra LTD 2020 you can check it out here. I have had the bike for a longer time since writing this and have some more things to share. But will be publishing a full in-depth review later on.

After months of research I came to the conclusion that the new 2020 LTD was the bike that ticked all the boxes for the type of riding I like. Essentially it is a adventure, gravel bike that is a mix between a mountain bike and a road bike. I grew up on road bikes so have always had a think for drop bars and there is something that makes me fizz up inside when I see a drop bar bike with chunky gravel tires. It just looks like it was meant to be!

When it comes to customising the bike. As of now it is all stock. except for changing over the saddle to a Brooks B17. I do plan to add a Dynamo hub for charging on long adventures.
